Medullary sponge kidney is a rare abnormality of small drainage tubes in the kidney. It's present at birth (congenital), but there is no clear evidence that the disorder is genetic. The cause isn't known. Medullary sponge kidney usually doesn't cause problems until adulthood.

Msk is what they say I have
Is this going to last forever
why do I feel so sad
will the pain ever go away
will I always feel so bad
The doctors say there is no cure
Why me why aren't there more
I feel there is no end for sure
I live in pain everyday
I ask God to take it all away
No one knows why this disease is so painful
But I will always remain hopeful
My spirits get shot down
When I awake I nearly hit the ground
Take a pill to get through the day
Will this pain ever go away
People always wondering is she really hurting
I sit by watching listening to people smirking
Do they think that I am lying
I feel like running and crying
Is this as good as it gets
Why do I have to live with this
I pray that God will let me catch my breath
I hope that this will soon be over
Until that day I will live the best way I can
Until my life on earth is over

Hi I am a member of the msk group and I also live in TN. You have been complaining about doctors and I want to tell you about the one that saved my life. I do not think Dyersburg is to far from Dickson. He is with urological associates there I think but his name is Dr. Ernest Smith. I used to drive from east TN when he was in Nashville but Dickson is just too far. When I first went to him I had just had a bout with sepsus or blood poisoning from the kidney infections and my kidneys had quit working completely. He gave me almost 3 years of peace. He is a wonderful doctor and knows how much pain we are in. I was just in the hospital again in March with kidney failure but I cannot see him anymore. I wish I could.
I hope this helps you I know the pain of MSK. I guess in some ways I am lucky as I also have reumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis and have no trouble
getting pain meds because of these but I do have lots of trouble with my kidneys also
